Message from the Outgoing Co-President Miaoqing

Greetings, Brooklyn Tech Community!

Four years have passed in a flash, and now it's time to say goodbye. Serving Brooklyn Tech PA has been a true honor and privilege for me: starting as Co-VP of Communications, then transitioning to the role solo, and finally, serving as Co-President for the past two years.
Special thanks to Principal Newman, who consistently listens to our suggestions and feedback, and to Mary Huhn, our dedicated parent coordinator, who remains supportive and responsive, even on weekends.

I am thrilled to see that our new initiatives—teacher wish lists and college essay review services—have taken root and flourished over these years. A heartfelt shout-out goes to Shanny Bang, whose unwavering dedication has been crucial to the success of these programs.

I want to extend my gratitude to the entire PA team and SLT. Working alongside all of you has been a genuine honor, and I am deeply grateful for everything I have learned from each and every one of you.

Behind the scenes, hundreds of parents volunteer tirelessly for events like open houses, dinners and breakfasts with the principal, Lunar New Year celebrations, and the spring gala. Without your support—whether through volunteering your time or making donations—the PA couldn't successfully host these events or sponsor initiatives like college essay reviews, teacher wish lists, faculty grants, and club support. Your contributions are truly invaluable. Thank you!

As a single mom and an immigrant, juggling a demanding full-time job, school volunteering, and raising my son alone has been a real challenge. However, my commitment to setting a positive example for my son through community service has kept me dedicated to my volunteer work.

If I can do it, you can do it. If you don't see anyone in the PA with a similar background to yours, let that inspire you to be a trailblazer and motivate others. Don't let anything hold you back from making a difference.

Tiffany Roberts, a passionate, dedicated, and detail-oriented Tech alumna, will continue her role as co-president alongside Kim Jalet, who has dedicated years to the PA. I am confident that under their leadership, the PA will continue to thrive and achieve even greater success!

Wishing you all a wonderful summer ahead!

Miaoqing (Mia) Lu
Co-President 2022-2024

Message from the Incoming Co-Presidents Tiffany & Kim

Dear Friends and Family,

As the school year comes to an end, we would like to express our sincerest gratitude for your support. We are excited to serve as your Co-Presidents next year and continue the work towards enhancing our children’s education and experiences at Brooklyn Tech. We plan to honor familiar traditions and hope to take on new initiatives, but of course we can’t do it without you! As parents play a crucial role in their children’s educational journey, every Tech parent is automatically a member of the PA. Please join us in the fall for monthly meetings and volunteer opportunities, and continue to share your great ideas with us. Together, we can make a significant impact on our children’s high school experiences.

We also can’t end the year without thanking the outgoing PA Executive Board members:

  • Mia, thank you for your service, leadership, and dedication as our Co-President over the past 2 years.
  • Shanny, thank you for wearing many hats beyond Senior Vice President. You were  often our driving force behind the scenes.
  • Rachel, our Co-Corresponding Secretary, many thanks for your advocacy and support in communicating with families.
  • Sarah, we appreciate all that you’ve done as Co-VP of Events & Volunteers to make each of our events successful.
  • Hua, Co-VP of Communications, thank you for your ambition in managing our online platforms.

Congratulations to all of you and your children on their graduation!

Finally, we express our gratefulness to Principal Newman, Parent Coordinator Mary Huhn, and Tech staff and faculty. We’re committed to continue this partnership, ensure success, and maintain excellence within the Tech community.

Wishing all a rejuvenating summer!
